Details about Girl Scout-specific
events at this year's Ohio State Fair are up for viewing or download!  Categories
are the same as the previous year, although group and individual projects in scrapbooking have been added for Brownie Girl Scouts through Senior Girl Scouts.

In the right-hand column, click on the link "Girl Scouts to read or download the PDF document for reference.  Any projects that your girls choose to do for the fair can be delivered to the Lima office of Girl Scouts of Western Ohio by July 21, 2008.  Projects delivered by this date will be taken to the fair by Shirley Green.

Service Unit Product Managers
Leaders--as your service unit prepares its plan of work for the 2008-2009 membership year, please be sure to communicate to Amy Orwick at our councils regional office as to who your service unit Fall Product Manager will be. Remember, although summer is now starting to arrive, the Fall Product Sale is just around the corner, and it's never too early to start planning and preparations for it!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Girl Scout Pool Days in Findlay

 

   
Service Unit 10 from our region is hosting their Girl Scout Pool Days at Riverside Park Pool in Findlay, OH!  The pool days will be on Thursday, July 24; and Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 12:00-8:00 pm.  Trading Post will be there on Thursday, July 24.  Bring your Cookie Dough or Nutty Bucks to spend.  Lots of new merchandise. Your girls will have the opportunity to vote for cookie recognitions.

 

Registered Girl Scouts will get a discount for admission of $3 by showing their Girl Scouts of the USA card or other official insignia.  Parents or guardians of Girl Scouts will receive FREE admission!  Refreshments will be available at the park's concession stand.  Bring a friend!  If she registers for Girl Scouting, girls can earn a “Bring a Friend” patch!

2008 Ohio State Fair--Girl Scouts Talent Competition

This competition is open to Girl Scouts of
all ages and talent levels! The fair is looking
for groups, troops, and individuals to
c
ompete in one or more of the following
categories: baton/ flag, dance, instrumental,
miscellaneous, and vocal. All acts must
comply with Girl Scout values. 

Talent participants will be placed in one of two judged age level categories. The age categories are K–5 and 6–12 grades. In the event of mixed age groups, the group will be placed in the higher age category. Best overall will be given for each age category. There will be a lunch break during the program.

Ribbons, medallions, and cash prizes will be awarded in each category! Trophies will be awarded to the Best Overall Performance Awards in each age level category! Medallions and ribbons will be given the day of the program. Cash awards will be mailed after the competition. Trophies for the Best Overall Performance Awards will be awarded at the Awards Ceremony.

Girl Scout Ballpark Campout

 

Girl Scout Brownie Night with the
Fort Wayne Wizards
has been
rescheduled by the Wizards for
Saturday, August 16, 2008. 

 

Girl Scout Brownie troops who were scheduled to attend the original event on May 30 will be given an equal amount of tickets and equal amount of overnight re-entry passes based on the original orders placed for May 30.  Any new or additional tickets or overnight passes that need to be purchased will be $8 per ticket, and $4 per overnight pass. 

 

Of course, if you were not scheduled to attend the May 30 event but want to come join the fun, you're welcome to be there on August 16 for some baseball, post-game fireworks, and a ballpark campout!

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s Wildlife--(Cadette and Senior Girl Scout Interest Project)
Have you ever watched a hawk soar over a meadow, caught a glimpse of a fox while hiking, seen wildflowers rustle in the breeze, or watched a fish break the calm surface of the water?  Girls can observe the wildlife at and around the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.  Catch a glimpse of the various habitats supporting wildlife and enjoy a day at the Zoo!  Wildlife Interest Project Patch is included!
